The certificate in Software Asset Management Essentials course will consist of lectures, group discussions, assignments, practice examination paper. The examination will take place on the afternoon of day 3.
The aims of Software Asset Management are to reduce IT costs and to limit business and legal risk related to the purchase, use and deployment of software, whilst maximising IT responsiveness and user productivity.
Software Asset Management (SAM) technologies should be set up to track the complete software lifecycle which will allow the company to function ethically and within software compliance regulations.
SAM can be implemented for eliminating legal costs associated with license agreement violations and as part of a company's reputation management strategy. Both are important forms of risk management, they are also critical for long-term business strategies.

Software asset management spans through the ITIL® Infrastructure setting in real detail and as such there are many areas of IT that require good SAM knowledge. Delivered by one of three leading consultants within our partner company, they use in depth and up to date experience to deliver the course. All candidates will leave the three days with a more comprehensive and practical view of SAM.

You will be able to deal with SAM related subjects with ease.
Candidates with a reasonable knowledge of software asset management can attend this course. This course does not require you to hold previous certifications, although any introduction into ITIL® as a framework would be helpful.
The core course content is covered during the full day sessions.
After taking the course delegates will be able to sit a formal 1 hour examination set by BCS. The examination will comprise of 40 multiple choice questions and candidates will need to obtain a pass mark of at least 26/40 to pass the examination.
There are currently no follow-on courses at this time, although it is envisaged that a new set of Software Asset Management certifications is to be launched in the near future.
After completion of this course, delegates will be awarded a Certificate in Software Asset Management.
